When Oscar Yao Doe, Group Chairman and President of Eurostar
Group of Companies, bought a 1960 Oscar Tella Guitar belonging to Agya
Koo Nimo during the auction at the Musiga Grand Ball event on September
5 at the State Banquet Hall in Accra, he had no idea that three weeks
later, the legendary musician was going to pay him a visit in his
office to express his gratitude.
Agya Koo Nimo came all the way from Kumasi in the company of his
student master guitarist, popularly called Sporatz, and a team from
Musiga headed by the President, Bice Osei Kuffour.
After thanking Oscar Doe for purchasing his guitar for GHC15,000.00 auction in aid of the Ageing Musicians Welfare Fund, Agya Koo Nimo and his protégé serenaded the guests with sweet authentic live music from their acoustic guitars. Tune after tune with accompanying history and all present couldn’t help but join with claps and dances as they partied deep into the night.
The Grand Ball Event raised a total of GHC100,000.00 for the Musiga Academy and Ageing Musicians Welfare Fund(AMWEF). Cheques of GHC 40,000 and GHC 60,000 were presented to the Academy and the Amwef Fund respectively, at a ceremony held at Alisa hotel on September 23
